If you normally take the 5 train prepare for an alternate route because there will be no service to and from certain train stations.
According to the MTA they're replacing tracks, and that's why you can expect to see no 5 trains from Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street.
As an alternative the MTA suggests connecting with 2 trains along White Plains Road by taking crosstown buses. There will also be free Bx90 shuttle buses at these locations making stops between Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street. Weekday rush services will continue to run in peak direction in The Bronx. Some of those trains will be running to and from Nereid Avenue.
As of right now the end date for this is July 7 so only a few more days of the delays and cancellations. Just make sure to stay up to date on your MTA apps to find the best routes for you and your commute.
