Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, joined by community advocates, walked along the Cross Bronx Expressway expansion route on Tuesday.
Community members highlighted specific concerns, like environmental and health impacts.
“Ideally elevate the conversation and bring about even more accountability within state government,” said Delgado.
Some advocates say the community was excluded from planning.
“To date, the engagement that they've done has been underwhelming, to say the least…” said Siddhartha Sanchez, with the Bronx River Alliance.
The plan was set to break ground in the fall of 2025. Activists say the start date may now be pushed back following Tuesday’s conversations.
