Gary Sholkoff has been warning people passing by his Throgs Neck home about a sinkhole that has only increased in size over the past month.

It has now taken over part of Edison Avenue. Sholkoff says city agencies dug a hole last month to fix a water main break but didn’t properly repair the hole. He tells News 12 it has been slowly getting bigger each day. He put up caution cones to warn people.

Despite his pleas for help, Sholkoff says no city agency has responded.

"I keep calling 311. They refer to [the Department of Transportation]. It's going back and forth. It's falling on deaf ears. If they're not going to do nothing until somebody gets seriously hurt. That's how it always works and it's going to happen," said Sholkoff.

News 12 reached out to city authorities about a timeline on fixing the sinkhole.
