News 12 has learned that officials from the City of White Plains have decided to discontinue the Ferris World Ball league following a dispute that ended with three people from The Bronx injured Thursday.
Officials issued a statement saying their recreation department provides activities for residents who live in White Plains.
In the statement, officials said the men's basketball league has grown over the years and now draws in people from all over the region.
Officials said its popularity started to create capacity issues for the park and the community.
Officials said they had already started discussing discontinuing the league, but added that last night's events accelerated this decision.
Jalen Hamilton worked the tournament and said he was shocked the league was discontinued.
"I don't think that's necessary," Hamilton said.
Other neighbors said they rejoiced that the league was discontinued
